Easy Tips To Be Acne-Free

Tip #1 - USE A MILD FACIAL CLEANSER (NOT SOAP)
When breakouts occur, people tend to want to dry out their skin to help heal the breakouts. However, when your skin gets dehydrated, it causes dead skin cells to buildup, which will actually cause more breakouts by keeping the oil trapped in your pores.  So, be sure to use a mild facial cleansing gel or foaming cleanser that won’t dry out your skin.

Tip #2  - USE GLYCOLIC ACID
Most skin types should use at least a 10% glycolic acid (the most effective of all alphahydroxy acids) on a daily basis.  As we age, our skin loses its ability to exfoliate regularly, so using a glycolic will help to reduce past sun damage, smooth and soften the skin, unclog the pores, and keep the skin cells healthy.  Exfoliation also assists in fading acne scars.

Tip #3 - AVOID DAIRY PRODUCTS
We always hear that greasy foods and chocolate cause breakouts. When cyst-like breakouts are in the chin and jaw area, usually it is either hormonal or it is related to excessive dairy products such as ice cream, yogurt, milk, and cheese.  If you avoid excessive dairy, you will more than likely see your skin clear up.

Tip #4 - DON’T PICK AT YOUR SKIN
Do your best not to pick your acne.  It’s tempting when you want to get rid of whiteheads and blackheads, but you can make your skin much worse by forcing bacteria deeper into the skin, resulting in scarring and further breakouts. A better solution for problem skin is a getting monthly facials, where your pores can be cleaned professionally.

Tip #5 - MAKE SURE TO USE MOISTURIZER
Many people with problem skin skip using a moisturizer, thinking that they don’t need one since their skin already produces oil.  However, if your skin isn’t being hydrated, your oil glands will actually produce more oil, causing more breakouts.  Be sure to use an oil-free lotion that will keep your skin hydrated, yet won’t clog your pores.

Beauty from the Inside Out

5/20/2012

Years ago, I remember feeling like my skin and makeup needed to be perfect in order for me to be beautiful.  But after attending a series of personal development courses, I experienced an internal change of loving myself more.  After that, each day I looked in the mirror and realized I didn't need to look perfect because I really felt beautiful.  That's when I realized that real beauty comes from the inside first, with who you are, and then radiates out.

My goal in each skin care treatment is to help my client achieve their beauty both externally (with their skin) and internally (with releasing unneeded stress).  As a result, I've seen my clients' skin significantly improve; and, they've expressed feeling better about themselves and experiencing positive changes in their every day interactions with family, friends and coworkers.

I feel blessed and honored to help my clients with enhancing their overall beauty!  I look forward to each and every treatment with them!!

With Gratitude,
Lani
